Shaping the Future Today

On 10 February 2006, the Council Of Australian Governments (COAG) announced a limited 5 year program to begin addressing the Young People In Nursing Homes (YPINH) issue.

Now being implemented in every State and Territory of the Commonwealth, this landmark initiative is halfway through its life.

This midpoint offers an opportunity to pause and reflect on what has been achieved; and consider what remains to be done if the initiative’s potential to deliver systemic and policy change for all, is to be achieved.

Held over 2 days in Melbourne on 19 and 20th August 2008, Shaping the Future Today is a specialist conference that will offer stakeholders a once in a lifetime opportunity to describe a way forward that crosses borders and jurisdictions and does so in a spirit of collaboration and partnership.

Shaping the Future Today has relevance for all stakeholders, including young people living in nursing homes, others with disability, family members, public servants, advocates, service providers in health, aged care and disability and government representatives at state and federal levels.
